Project Details
Silicon Grid's Constellation platform, integrated with the CONTROL and OPTIMISE modules, has pioneered Active Network Management (ANM) in Mongolia, marking a significant milestone in addressing transmission capacity challenges. The project, executed in collaboration with UB Grid Consultancy Ltd and Monhorus LLC, showcases the effectiveness of smart grid techniques in the challenging context of Mongolia's harsh climate.
Benefits to Society
Reduced Energy Costs
ANM, facilitated by Constellation, provides a cost-effective solution by avoiding or deferring traditional high-cost network reinforcement. This, in turn, contributes to more affordable and sustainable energy solutions for the people of Mongolia.
Zero Carbon & Emissions Reduction
The deployment of smart grid techniques, particularly in the Desert Solar Power One project, aligns with Mongolia’s efforts to reduce emissions and transition to cleaner energy sources, significantly impacting carbon reduction by 45,000t annually.
Increased Renewables
Constellation’s ANM system optimizes the integration of the 30MW solar power plant in Dornogobi, Mongolia, providing clean energy to meet the needs of 27,000 households and reducing reliance on coal.
Benefits to Network Operator
Cost Reduction
Silicon Grid’s technology allows for the deferral of traditional reinforcement, saving an estimated $60m in network costs for United Green.
Accelerated Renewables Connections
The Constellation System seamlessly integrates the Desert Solar Power One plant, unlocking 30MVA capacity in Sainshand, Dornogobi, and facilitating faster and more reliable connections.
Deferred Reinforcement Costs
By optimizing existing infrastructure, Constellation helps United Green defer extensive network reinforcement, leading to significant cost savings.
Improved Network Efficiency and Resilience
The ANM system autonomously optimizes the Solar PV export, enhancing the overall efficiency and resilience of the Central Energy System.
